Ceramic whistle horse. Ukrainian svyschyk is a traditional whistle toy, which also served as a musical instrument. Ceramists and their wives used to make such playthings for children, during their time off. Birds, horses, fish, and other animals from rural life were the most common shapes for svyschyks.
